We now started our journey back. We took a 50 minute train to Lauterbrunnen. (This part is pink) In Lauterbrunnen we took an hour walk on a path and saw many very pretty and long waterfalls.

Stage 4
Next we caught another 30 minute train heading to Klein Scheidegg. (This part is yellow) This was the highest we went and we got to see a lot of Alps with snow on them including the Jungfrau.

Stage 3
Once we arrived in Interlaken we took a 30 minute train ride heading up through the mountains to Grindelwald. (This part is light blue) It was a cool town because it was right in the Alps. In Grindelwald we took a 10 minute cable car a even higher and got a great view. Then we grabbed a quick lunch and hopped on another train.
Stage 1
Today we woke up and had a nice buffet breakfast at the hotel. To summarize what we did today was we took trains, boats, taxis, funiculars, and cable cars all over the jungfrau region. First, we took a funicular down to the lake because our hotel is very high up. It’s a very short ride but is is really steep.
The Train
After swimming in the river, we rushed to a train going to Interlacken. It was about an hour and it headed towards the Alps so it was a very pretty ride. In Interlaken, we took another 10 minute train to Brienz. Finally, we took our hotel shuttle up a mountain (which was really scary!!) to our hotel in Giessbach. Our hotel is by far the prettiest destination of our trip so far.

Swimming in the River
After lunch we went to a really pretty part of Bern where you could see The Alps. We walked down to a pool which was right next to the Aare river. The river had a current so it wasn’t safe to swim in regularly but many people were starting at one place and swimming down with the current and getting out at another place. After long debate, we decided to do it too! It was REALLY cold and it took some strength to swim to the shore where we were supposed to get out but we met this nice man who guided us through it. Overall, it was really cool but cold.

Morning in Bern
In the morning in Bern, we took another walking tour through the city. We had a very nice guide and we learned a lot of information.

Dinner Night 5
For dinner we went to our first Italian restaurant of the trip! They could barely speak English but the food was delicious! Not quite as good as Arturo’s though.
Leaving Germany
This morning we went to a gigantic church in Germany right before we left. After, we got on a five hour train to Basel, Switzerland. It was a very scenic train ride. We saw several medieval villages that had big old castles and it was very pretty! When we arrived in Basel, we took an hour train ride to Bern. We are now in Bern and it’s beautiful.
